Stampeders Beat OCN 6-3 In Season Opener

The Swan Valley Stampeders were in OCN Friday night to kick off their 20th Anniversary season

The Stampeders had some jump tonight scoring three goals in the first period. Kasyn Kruse absolutely undressed goaltender Logan Thiessen just 1:17 into the game scoring the Stampeders first goal of the year. Tanner Booth picked up his first as a Stampeder, banging home a rebound at 11:47. Newly appointed assistant captain Noah Basarab scored at 18:54 and goaltender Michael Davis was perfect when called upon. Shots after twenty minutes of play were 22-11 for Swan.

Swan Valley continued to press in the middle frame and Noah Basarab added his second of the year at 1:39 on a nifty passing play with captain Jaden Townsend. OCN responded less than thirty seconds later as Sequoia Swan beat Michael Davis. OCN scored late in the second period as Kobe Campbell swatted in a rebound at 17:27. The Stampeders continued to lead 4-2 after forty minutes of play with the shots 34-26 in favour of Swan Valley.

Scoring correction on Swan Valley’s 5th goal it was Dane Hirst who tapped home a rebound at 11:20. Kasyn Kruse added his second of the game at 12:44. OCN’s Trygve Many Gunns scored on the power play late in the third but it was the Swan Valley Stampeders skating away with a 6-3 win to open the 2018/2019 season.  Final shots on goal were 50-38 for Swan.

Due to technical difficulties with hockey tv in OCN we will have game highlights up on all social media and our YouTube channel tomorrow morning.
