Stampeders Defeat the Wolverines in an All-Rookie Game Sunday Afternoon

The Swan Valley Stampeders returned to action Sunday afternoon in an all-rookie game against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines at the Centennial Arena.

Both teams dressed numerous rookie players giving them all exposure and a big taste of what is to come in the future.

The Stampeders opened the scoring Sunday afternoon as Riley Fequet deposited a power play marker at 10:27. Ashton Cure gave the home team a 2-0 just over two minutes later and Callum Halls wired one home late in the first period to give Swan Valley a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Colin Kwak sealed the deal for the home squad, scoring from just outside the blue-line at 11:47 and the Stampeders held on for a 4-0 win.

Michael O’Sullivan and Connor Hatfield combined for a 20 save shutout performance.

These two teams will be back at it Monday night, this time in Russell. The game has been moved due to ice issues in Waywayseecappo. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00pm.
