Stampeders Fail To gain Ground In The West Division, Fall 3-0 To Virden Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders dropped a very important game against the Virden Oil Capitals Friday night at Tundra Oil and Gas Place.

Swan Valley failed to gain any ground in the West Division standings, falling to the Oil Capitals 3-0 and now fall three points behind Virden for third overall.

Both teams skated to an entertaining scoreless first period with the shots favouring the home team 15-11.

Virden broke the deadlock as Evan Goening beat Kobe Grant on the power play at 8:50. Carson Buydens added to the Oil Capitals lead, scoring his 20th of the year with 5.5 seconds remaining in the middle frame.

Beau Larson added an empty net goal at 18:07 of the third period and the Oil Capitals shutout the Stampeders Friday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place.

These two teams will conclude their regular season series against one another Saturday Feb. 26 in Swan River. Puck drop will go at 7:05pm from the Centennial Arena.

Tomorrow night’s game is billet appreciation night with an opening ceremony taking place prior to puck drop.
