Stampeders Fall 4-2 To The Portage Terriers Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell 4-2 to the Terriers Friday night at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie.

The Stampeders offence was led by Noah Fladager and Jackson Betcher who collected a goal each while Kobe Grant suffered the loss in net.

Swan Valley took it to the Terriers in the opening five minutes of play but found themselves in penalty trouble which gave all the momentum back to the home team. Mason Smith opened the scoring at 6:23 of the first period, scoring his first of the night on a 5-on-3 power play.

Matt Wisener added to the Terriers lead, scoring a short-handed marker 7:41 into the middle frame. Fladager added his eighth of the season, sending a backhand shot on net that found its way through Portage netminder Jayden Catellier six minutes later. Smith added his second of the night with 21 seconds left in the second period giving the Terriers a two-goal cushion heading into the third period.

Betcher picked up his eighth of the year, scoring on the power play 4:12 into the third period pulling the stampeders back to within one. Logan Calder sealed the deal with an empty-net goal with nine seconds left and the Terriers doubled up the Stampeders Friday night at Stride Place.
