Stampeders Fall To 1-3 On The Season With a 4-2 Loss Friday Night

The Swan Valley Stampeders fell on home ice Friday night, losing 4-2 to the Niverville Nighthawks.

Swan Valleys offence was led by Alex Walicki (1G, 1A), Darius Makese (1G), and Josh Danis (2A).

Darius Makse opened the scoring at 14:36 of the first period, collecting his second of the season. Eric Martin responded with force, sending a shot that rang off the back bar to tie the game less than three minutes later.

Nathan Brown collected his first of the game 7:03 into the second period, giving the Nighthawks their first lead of the game. Alex Walicki walked out of the corner and went backhand high glove to tie the game on the power play at 16:54.

Michael Debrito regained the Nighthawks lead 2:25 into the third period, scoring his second of the season on the power play. Nathan Brown added his second of the game,  scoring into an empty net with 49 seconds left and the Nighthawks skated to their third straight win to open up the 2023/24 season.

Swan Valley now has a full week off and will return to action Friday Oct. 6 in Waywayseecappo. Puck drop goes at 7:30p.m.
