Stampeders Force Game 6 Monday Night With a 3-2 Win Saturday Night in Steinbach

Steinbach, MB – The Swan Valley Stampeders executed a perfect road game Saturday night in Steinbach, defeating the Pistons 3-2 and forcing a Game 6 in Swan River Monday, Apr. 17.

The Story

Both teams traded chances in the first period but neither team could solve Kobe Grant or Dominik Wasik, sending both teams to the dressing room scoreless.

The Stampeders found their legs and said giddy up, scoring back-to-back goals off the rush to take a 2-0 lead. Jakob Jones collected his fifth of the post season at the 5 minute mark and Warren Marcotte added his first of the post-season just over five minutes later, giving the road team a 2-0 lead. Kirk Mullin answered back with three seconds left in the period and the Stampeders lead 2-1 after 40 minutes of play.

Swan Valley executed everything they needed to in the third period, completely shutting down the Pistons and that hard work lead to the Birthday boy scoring the Stampeders third goal. Arp, collected a loose puck on the dump in, wrapped around the net and beat Wasik at 16:02 for his first of the playoffs. Ty Paisley added one late, but it wasn’t enough as Kobe Grant said no the rest of the way, and the Stampeders forced a game 6 back in Swan River Monday, Apr. 17 at 7:00 p.m..
