Stampeders Snap Six Game Losing Streak, Win Big Friday Night in Selkirk

Selkirk, MB. – The Swan Valley Stampeders snapped their six-game losing streak with a statement win on the road Friday night in Selkirk. 

The Stampeders offence was led by Trey Sauder (2G, 2A), Adam Rajsigl (4A), Warren Marcotte and Jakob Jones (1G, 1A), Justin Keck (1G, 1A), Noah Wison and Landen Gulutzan each collected a goal while Loic Mainguy-Crepault stopped 23/25 shots he faced in the win.

The Story  

Tyson Smith opened the scoring Friday night in Selkirk, collecting his ninth of the season 8:51 into the opening frame. Trey Sauder was able to respond less than a minute later, scoring his 13th of the year on the power play. Justin Keck scored a slick, in-tight goal, giving his team a 2-1 lead heading to the dressing room. 

Trey Sauder collected his second of the game 3:11 into the second period, scoring on the power play for his 14th of the year. Noah Wilson deposited his eighth of the season on the power play at 4:07, giving the Stampeders a 4-1 lead at that point. Jakob Jones was able to add his name to the score sheet at 7:06 and Warren Marcotte added to his point total, scoring his sixth of the season at 15:58 on the power play. Rhett Marchant answered back, scoring his second of the season at 16:11 of the middle frame. 

Landen Gulutzan swatted home a loose puck at 16:19 of the third period, Loic Mainguy-Crepault stopped 23/25 shots he faced, and the Stampeders skated to a dominating 7-2 win on the road Friday night.

  • Prior to tonight’s game in Selkirk, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League released rosters for the upcoming MJHL-SJHL Showcase Jan. 31 – Feb. 1 in Winnipeg. Steven Arp – 18U White, Kobe Grant and Justin Keck – 20U Team Black, Warren Marcotte and Adam Rajsigl – 20U – Team Red
