Stamps Fall 2-1 In Waywayseecappo

Swan Valley dropped a close one Sunday in Waywayseecappo.

In their second matchup of the regular season, it was the Wolverines who came away with a 2-1 win Sunday October 27. The win on home ice for the Wolverines evened the season series at one game apiece.

A see-saw first period had both teams creating scoring chances in the first ten minutes of play. It was the Waywayseecappo Wolverines who would strike first tonight as Kris Bladen grabbed a loose puck behind the net, walked out front and tucked home his first of the year at 12:06.

Scoring would resume in the middle frame as Conrad Phillips was sent in all alone at the 12:00 mark and beat Mikael Foucher to increasing the Wolverines lead to 2-0.

Swan Valley cut into Wayway’s lead with 7:00 minutes left in the game as Mattias Dal Monte grabbed a loose puck, spun around, fired, and scored. The Stampeders pushed hard late in the third but couldn’t find the equalizer, and the Wolverines held on for a 2-1 win on home ice.

Tonights loss on the road sees the Stampeders record slip to 8-4-1 on the year, which is good for sixth overall in the MJHL Standings.

Swan will return home and get ready for the Dauphin Kings Wednesday October 30 at home. Game time is 7:30pm.

*Note – Wednesday’s game is “Halloween at the Corral”. Any child who dresses up will get in for free (Costume Parade in the 1st Intermission), and any adult who brings a non-perishable food item will be entered into win prizes from Formo Motors.
