Stamps look for weekend split, end weekend tonight against Blues
Stampeders: 1-2-0-0 (T3rd in West) Power Play % (18.8%) Penalty Kill % (75%)
Blues: 0-2-0-0 (T6th in East) Power Play % (12.5%) Penalty Kill % (70%)
The Stamps are coming off of a tough 6-2 loss last night to the Selkirk Steelers, dropping to 1-2-0-0 on the year. Ethan MacTavish and Darren Hunt were the only goal scorers, with assists to Riley Fequet, Ekam Dhaliwal, Trace Langan, and Crosby Harrison.
One thing the Stampeders have to address is making sure they get off to the right start, and not allowing the first goal of the game to their opponents. Penalty trouble has also played a big factor, as the Stamps took seven penalties in last nights game, giving the Steelers three power-play goals.
The Blues are coming off losses to Niverville and Selkirk, both of which were scores of 5-2 and 5-3. The Blues have a good roster of returning players from last season, and won’t be an easy match-up. The Stamps will need to take this Blues team seriously in order to give themselves a good shot at the split on the weekend.
Players to Watch –
Stampeders: MacTavish, Hunt, Harrison
Blues: Assailly, Epp, Dyck
This is the third of four road games for the Stampeders on this road trip, they’ll play tonight then head to Waywayseecappo on Tuesday Sept. 30 to face the Wolverines, before returning home on Oct. 3 when the Virden Oil Capitals come to town.
